In the context of our capacity-building activities at Acibadem Mehmet Ali Aydinlar University (ACU), we are pleased to announce the successful organisation of a training course entitled "EU-Funded Projects Financial Reporting and Financial Audit." The course was led by Serena Cogoni of Fondazione ICONS and Local Principal Investigator of the GEMSTONE Project.


The training was attended by a total of 13 experts, comprising of staff members of the ACU Technology Transfer Office (TTO) and the Finance Department. The programme concentrated on the complexities of financial reporting and audit procedures for EU-funded projects, equipping attendees with the requisite knowledge and practical abilities to enhance their competencies in the effective management and reporting of EU-funded project finances.

The objective of the course was to equip our staff with the requisite knowledge and expertise to effectively manage the financial aspects of EU projects, thereby enhancing our institution's capacity to navigate international research collaborations and funding in an efficient manner. This initiative forms part of our ongoing efforts to develop and enhance the capabilities of our team, ensuring that we meet the highest standards in project management and financial compliance.

Serena Cogoni is an experienced professional in the field of research projects and grants writing and management. She has 20 years of proven experience, with a track record of more than 300 grant applications submitted in the most complex line of EU programmes (FP6/FP7/H2020 and Horizon Europe) and more than 30 funded projects in the field of biomedical research.
