
The first training workshop on "Grant Writing and Management & Scientific Writing and Publishing" as a part of the GEMSTONE project was taken place on November 4, 2022, at Acibadem Mehmet Ali Aydinlar, Turkey.
In the scope of the project's capacity-building activities, the aim of the event is to promote scientific skills among early-stage researchers in the field of neuroscience.
Forty-nine young researchers (PhD students, PhD candidates, and post-docs) attended the workshop and were awarded a certificate on "Grant Writing and Management & Scientific Writing and Publishing."
With the help of the workshop, the project aims to improve the scientific innovation capacities of early-stage and young researchers in neuroscience with grant writing and management and publishing skills.
Dr. Asa Petersen from Lund University, Sweden, presented the scientific research ideas that use the major concepts and the methodology of "Translational research for neurodegenerative disorders."
By considering the participants' neuroscience backgrounds, Serena Cogoni from Fondaziona ICONS, Italy, gave an introductory speech on "How a European-funded grant works? The GEMSTONE case study" and "Introduction to scientific writing."
During the workshop, the students found an opportunity to listen to the experiences of Astrid Nehlig, the former Chief Editor of Epilepsia. She gave a speech on "Scientific writing and publishing: Reviewer perspective."
