As the GEMSTONE team, we are delighted to announce a comprehensive training opportunity in the field of neuroscience – GEMSTONE Course on Chemogenetic Modulation and Validation will be held on 18-19 January 2024. The hands-on training course offers a unique and in-depth exploration of the theoretical and practical aspects of the chemogenetic approach using Designer Receptors Exclusively Activated by Designer Drugs (DREADDs).
This innovative technique allows for precise observation and selective modulation of neural cell types in freely moving animals, revolutionizing the landscape of neuroscience research.
Course highlights
-
Keynote lectures by renowned experts in the field, providing insights into the application of chemogenetics in various research domains
-
Hands-on expert workshops during experimental sessions, offering practical experience in techniques such as stereotaxic surgery, viral vector injection, cranial windows, EEG recordings, chemogenetic manipulations, systemic drug administration, and data analysis
-
Interactive sessions on experimental design, where participants will work closely with instructors to plan and design their projects in detail
-
Roundtable discussions on designing experiments using chemogenetics, providing a platform for participants to present and discuss novel projects
-
Opportunities for participants to showcase their ongoing research and explore how chemogenetics can be applied to their projects
Course objectives
By the end of the course, participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of chemogenetic modulation and validation, acquire hands-on experience with multiplexed read/write experimental design, and learn how to integrate chemogenetic tools into their own research.
We invite all interested Acibadem University graduate students to fill out the application form before the deadline and take this exciting opportunity to enhance your skills in the evolving field of neuroscience. We look forward to welcoming a diverse group of participants for an engaging and enriching learning experience.
Important information
The course is free of charge. The maximum number of participants is 12. Applications will be evaluated and results will be communicated via email.
Please submit the application form by 12 January 2024.
