Within the scope of the Horizon Europe-funded GEMSTONE Project, two new short video interviews have been released to highlight Acıbadem Mehmet Ali Aydınlar University’s (ACU) vibrant research, training, and innovation environment. The videos aim to promote ACU as an attractive destination for young students, early-career researchers, and innovators, encouraging them to pursue their training and professional careers within a strong, internationally connected academic ecosystem.
The first video focuses on the Neuroscience PhD Programme at ACU’s Institute of Health Sciences and features Prof. Filiz Onat, Head of the Department of Neuroscience and Principal Investigator of the GEMSTONE Project. In conversation with Dr. Talat Taygun Turan, Research Assistant at the Department of Neuroscience and GEMSTONE Researcher, Prof. Onat provides an in-depth overview of the programme’s academic vision, interdisciplinary structure, and research-oriented curriculum.
The interview addresses key aspects of doctoral training at ACU, including the programme’s core research areas, faculty expertise, curriculum design, and innovative teaching approaches. Prof. Onat also discusses how neuroscience at ACU bridges multiple disciplines, as well as the diverse career opportunities available to graduates in academia, industry, and clinical settings. In addition, the video highlights the programme’s strong international dimension, including participation in EU-funded projects, Erasmus mobility, and global research collaborations.
The second video introduces the ACU Technology Transfer Office (TTO) through an interview with Dr. Eda Tanoğlu, Director of the TTO. The video outlines the TTO’s role in supporting researchers throughout the entire innovation lifecycle, from idea development to commercialization. Dr. Tanoğlu presents the wide range of services offered by the TTO, including funding and project consultancy, R&D and industry partnerships, intellectual property and patent support, start-up development, investor engagement, and access to biodesign and advanced laboratory facilities.
Together, these two videos reflect GEMSTONE’s broader mission to strengthen institutional research capacity, foster innovation, and enhance international visibility. They also contribute to the project’s dissemination and outreach activities by showcasing ACU’s supportive environment for high-quality research, advanced training, and knowledge translation.
