GEMSTONE researcher Dr. Tugba Eryigit presented the cre-lox technology in mouse modelling in brain disorders, which is used in the GEMSTONE research component.

Cre-lox technology is a powerful and versatile tool for mouse genetics. It allows mouse researchers to precisely control the location and timing of gene expression in the mouse model. The cre-lox system is commonly used to create knockout alleles, but it can also be used to activate gene expression. This technology is widely used in the study of brain disorders.

Dr. Eryigit developed expertise in these technologies during her PhD studies at Lund University. Her advisor, Prof. Deniz Kırık, is a leading researcher in the GEMSTONE Project. As a researcher at Acibadem University, Dr. Eryigit will share her knowledge with postdoctoral researchers and doctoral students in neuroscience.
