Last week, the GEMSTONE Research Group welcomed a high school student, Asya Tanyilmaz, as an observer. Asya is currently in high school and she would like to study neuroscience in her future academic career.
The communication approach of GEMSTONE is inclusive in terms of communicating our research environments to the young generations. We want to raise awareness of the importance of neuroscience research for public health in strategic areas of gene engineering technologies and neuroscience, focusing on the neurodevelopmental aspects of brain disorders such as Parkinson's disease and epilepsy.
We are happy that Asya is inspired to have a research career in neuroscience:
I got the chance to learn more about the different kinds of experimental methods used in research. I also observed how laboratory materials are used. I now know the stages of a research project. GEMSTONE inspired me for my academic future and now I am more excited than ever to pursue a career in neuroscience.
