GEMSTONE Newsletter 2025

The Horizon Europe-funded GEMSTONE Project has released its final annual magazine, GEMSTONE Newsletter 2025, marking the conclusion of a three-year journey dedicated to advancing neuroscience and gene-engineering research while strengthening institutional capacity at Acıbadem Mehmet Ali Aydınlar University (ACU).

As highlighted in its Editorial, 2025 represents the closing year of GEMSTONE and a moment of reflection on the project’s integrated approach. Over the past three years, the consortium successfully combined cutting-edge scientific research with hands-on capacity-building actions, reinforcing both technical excellence and sustainable research management practices. During its final year, GEMSTONE focused on three core priorities: consolidating and sharing scientific and technical outcomes; strengthening research support services through targeted training and peer learning; and amplifying visibility and policy impact by engaging students, the wider public, peer institutions, and decision-makers.

GEMSTONE Newsletter 2025 offers a curated overview of the project’s activities and results achieved throughout 2025. The publication brings together major scientific and technical milestones, highlights key institutional transformation efforts at ACU, and showcases policy, outreach, and networking activities that expanded the project’s footprint across Turkey and Europe. It also documents governance-related developments and sustainability measures designed to ensure that the project’s achievements continue to generate impact beyond its official end date on 31 December 2025.

Structured into dedicated sections – About the project, 2025 at a glance, 2025 highlights: Technical results, 2025 highlights: Institutional transformation, 2025 highlights: Policy & visibility, 2025 highlights: Governance & sustainability, and 2025 news digest – the newsletter serves both as a comprehensive record of GEMSTONE’s final year and as a legacy document for future collaborations and initiatives.

With this final publication, the GEMSTONE consortium expresses its sincere gratitude to all those who contributed to the project’s success, including researchers, research managers, trainers, speakers, visiting researchers, students, advisors, partner organisations, institutional leaders, sister projects, and other stakeholders. GEMSTONE Newsletter 2025 stands as a testament to their collective efforts and to the lasting impact of GEMSTONE’s work in strengthening research excellence and capacity within and beyond ACU.
