What an incredible two days it has been! The GEMSTONE Project's first dissemination event, in collaboration with the Brain Research Society of Turkey, brought together experts, keynote speakers, leading researchers, and young talents in the field of neuroscience.


Here is the agenda of the event:

Day 1 featured insightful talks and discussions:

  • Prominent expert's overview of neurodevelopmental research
  • Keynote speech on neuroinflammation by Prof. Annamaria Vezzani, Laboratory of Epilepsy and Therapeutic Strategy, Italy
  • Keynote speech on thalamocortical oscillations in health and disease by Dr. Annika Luettjohann, Institute of Physiology, University of Munster, Germany
  • Keynote speech on the development of genetically engineered mice for modelling rare neurodevelopmental disorders by Assoc. Prof. Kasim Diril, Izmir Biomedicine and Genome Center, Turkey
  • Capacity building and progress updates in the GEMSTONE Project

Day 2 explored neuroscience research and industry collaboration:

  • Keynote speech on drug discovery by Prof. Emilio Russo
  • The gene therapy landscape in movement disorders by Prof. Deniz Kirik
  • Talks on trends in the pharmaceutical industry by Dr. Ali Özüer, Abdi Ibrahim
  • Discussions on university-industry collaboration

Day 2 also witnessed captivating oral presentations:

  • Diverse topics from immune systems to genetic modifications
  • A showcase of the young researcher's potential

The symposium concluded with a closing ceremony, thanking speakers, and organizers.
