Rome, Italy - 10 September 2024 - We are pleased to announce the remarkable achievements of the Gemstone Project team at the 15th European Epilepsy Congress, taking place in Rome, Italy from 7-11 September 2024. This prestigious event, organised by the International League Against Epilepsy (ILAE), is renowned for bringing together the leading minds in epilepsy research and treatment from around the world.
The ILAE Congress is a landmark event that serves as an important platform for presenting the latest advances in epilepsy research and clinical practice. This year's Congress in Rome was particularly noteworthy, attracting top researchers, clinicians and scientists dedicated to advancing our understanding of epilepsy and improving patient care worldwide.
Representing Acıbadem University with distinction, the Gemstone Project team made significant contributions to the field through both poster and oral presentations, as well as a session moderation. Led by the Professor Filiz Onat, the Gemstone Project aims to advance epilepsy research and train the next generation of qualified researchers, demonstrating the Gemstone Project's commitment to scientific excellence and innovation.

- Session Moderation – Professor Filiz Onat, in collaboration with Edouard Hirsch from Strasbourg University Hospital, moderated a session on “Epilepsy Surgery,” showcasing her leadership and expertise in the field.

- “Orexin Type-2 Receptor Distribution in Genetic Absence Epileptic Rats from Strasbourg” – Presented by Filiz Onat, Nursima Mutlu, Merve Açıkel Elmas, Neval Sevinç Özdemir, Nihan Çarçak Yılmaz, and Zoltan Molnar.
